Certain strengths of injectable meds should only be used for compounding...and should NOT be given UNdiluted.
Direct administration of these meds (concentrated potassium chloride, etc) can lead to patient harm...or even death.
Check package labeling if you’re not sure if a med can be directly infused or injected. Look for wording, such as “Must be diluted prior to use” or “For the preparation of IV infusions only.”
