You may see Zynrelef (bupivacaine/meloxicam extended-release) for pain control after certain surgeries.
This new injectable is touted to reduce post-op opioid use. It's a viscous solution that slowly diffuses after being instilled in the surgical site.
But think of Zynrelef as similar to other local anesthetics, such as standard bupivacaine...liposomal bupivacaine (Exparel)...or "cocktails" of ropivacaine, epinephrine, and ketorolac.
