Palforzia Will Be a New Treatment for Peanut Allergy

Palforzia, the first FDA-approved treatment for peanut allergy, may pop up on home med lists.

Palforzia is a peanut allergen powder given orally to allergic patients 4 to 17 years old. The goal is to decrease sensitivity to small amounts of peanuts...by slowly increasing exposure.

Palforzia doesn't allow patients to freely eat peanut products...they'll still have to follow a peanut-free diet. But it may minimize an allergic reaction from accidental exposure.
