Watch for New Concentrations of IV Ephedrine and Phenylephrine

Two new IV med formulations, Biorphen (phenylephrine 100 mcg/mL) and Emerphed (ephedrine 5 mg/mL), will hit the market.

Phenylephrine and ephedrine are often used during surgery to boost blood pressure. The trouble is that phenylephrine 10 mg/mL and ephedrine 50 mg/mL have to be diluted prior to administration.

Biorphen and Emerphed DON'T require dilution...and are meant to replace dilutions you currently prep or order from outsourcers.
