Twirla (ethinyl estradiol/levonorgestrel), a new weekly patch for contraception, may show up on some home med lists.

Think of Twirla as similar to Xulane. Both patches contain an estrogen and a progestin...and are used in a 4-week cycle, with one patch applied weekly for 3 weeks, and no patch worn during week 4.

When taking med histories, document use of Twirla...including the date it was last applied.
