Some IV Meds Aren't Meant for Direct Administration to Patients
You can help prevent inappropriate administration of meds meant for IV prep...epinephrine 1 mg/mL, sodium chloride 23.4%, etc.
Certain strengths of injectable meds should only be used for compounding...and should NOT be given undiluted. Direct administration of these can lead to patient harm...even death.
Check package labeling if you're not sure if a med should be directly infused or injected. Look for wording such as "must be diluted prior to use" or "for the preparation of IV infusions only."
