Expect to Dispense Tocilizumab for COVID-19 Under an EUA

You'll likely hear more about using tocilizumab or other meds along with steroids to treat COVID-19 in hospitalized patients.
It's partly because of results from recent studies looking at IL-6 inhibitors (tocilizumab, etc)...or Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors (baricitinib, tofacitinib, etc)...given with steroids (dexamethasone, etc).
If an add-on is used, expect to usually see orders for tocilizumab (Actemra). It has more evidence for mortality reduction in COVID-19 INpatients.
