Plazomicin Will Be Similar to Tobramycin, Gentamicin, and Amikacin
Plazomicin (Zemdri, ZEM-dree) will be a new antibiotic for carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) infections.
It's an aminoglycoside similar to gentamicin, tobramycin, and amikacin.
The difference is that plazomicin isn't affected by some of the enzymes bacteria produce to make them resistant to these meds.
