You may see orders for "push-dose" vasopressors (phenylephrine, epinephrine, etc) to expedite treatment of low blood pressure.

Pressors are usually given as continuous infusions to boost blood pressure. But these drips have downsides...such as requiring that a central IV line be placed for prolonged administration.

Giving pressors by IV push is gaining popularity because they can be given through a regular "peripheral" IV line...and pumps or tubing aren't needed.
