The new zoster vaccine, Shingrix (SHING-riks), will be preferred over Zostavax...because Shingrix seems more effective.

Shingrix has an "adjuvant" that boosts the immune response.

Plus it's a non-live vaccine...instead of a live vaccine like Zostavax. But it's too soon to say if Shingrix can be given to patients with poor immune systems...studies are ongoing.
