You'll see more use of "echinocandin" IV antifungals.

The "azole" antifungal, fluconazole, is often the go-to treatment for patients with Candida yeast infections in their blood.

Now echinocandins (anidulafungin, caspofungin, and micafungin), or "fungins," are making their way to the top for treating these serious fungal infections. That's because they may work better...and have fewer drug interactions...than fluconazole.
