There’s continued emphasis on avoiding methotrexate errors.

Hospitals are being encouraged to have their EHRs default to a WEEKLY oral methotrexate schedule...and to require an indication if methotrexate is ordered DAILY.

Mistakenly taking methotrexate every day for as little as one week can cause liver damage, immunosuppression, and death. Daily use should be limited to patients with cancer.
