Stay Alert for Immunocompromised Patients Getting Vaccines

We’re getting questions about using vaccines in patients on immunosuppressive meds (adalimumab, methotrexate, prednisone, etc).

Vaccines are especially important for patients who are taking immunosuppressants...since these meds can weaken the immune system and make patients more vulnerable to infection.

But live vaccines, such as varicella or intranasal FluMist, may be risky in these patients...since there’s a chance of developing an infection from the vaccine virus.
