Don't Confuse the New Quinolone Baxdela for Other "Floxacin" Antibiotics
Baxdela (baks-DEH-lah, delafloxacin) will be the latest "quinolone" antibiotic.
It'll be saved as a last resort for certain skin infections...such as those caused by methicillin-resistant Staph aureus (MRSA).
Expect most patients on Baxdela to get 450 mg by mouth...or 300 mg IV...every 12 hours for 5 to 14 days. Therapy length will depend on the severity and type of skin infection being treated.
